Caregiving Burdens among Family Caregivers of Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy at Hiwa Cancer Hospital in Sulaimani - Iraq

Background: Caring for a patient informally during chemotherapy can cause variety of burdens upon the caregiver, who may be family member, relative, or friend patient. Aim: The aim study was to assess caregivers’ cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methodology: One hundred ninety-eight dyads informal caregivers and were recruited current descriptive at Hiwa Cancer Hospital. Non-probability convenience sample technique used select sample. data collected through direct interview by questionnaire that included caregivers' patients’ characteristics caregiving burden assessed Caregiver Burdens Inventory, Distress Index, Strain Index. Statistic Package Social Science 25 software statistical analysis. Results: score Zarit Burden Interview 49.1±14.9, moderate 45.5% severe almost 29%. strain index nearly 30%was ≥ 7 which indicate high overall caregiver distress Median (Interquartile range) 32(11). There strong positive correlation among dependent variables p ˂ 0.01. Conclusions & Recommendation: Overall domain correlated each other. It seems reasonable nurse takes more effort relieve adopt early interventions deal with their emotional problems.
